Two weeks before your appointment, please avoid anything harsh such as chemical peels, tanning, RetinA and BHA products. One week prior, refrain from taking anything that can unnecessarily thin the blood such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol. If you are taking prescription meds, please keep taking as recommended by your health care provider. Please refrain from caffeine the day of your appointment.
If treating an area of the body such as the abdomen, please wear clean, loos fitting clothing.
Come to the appointment with clean skin. No products on the skin. Please refrain from false eyelashes if eye area is being treated.
Following the Fibroblast treatment, most people experience a mild burning sensation similar to sunburn which resolves after a couple of hours. Some clients choose an OTC anti-inflammatory.
As a natural healing response, it is usual for the treated area to become swollen, especially around the more delicate areas such as the eyes.
Initially after treatment and for a day or so afterward there may be occasional weeping. This is simply plasma and is a natural healing response.
As the treated area begins to heal, you will notice its drying out process, a brown/black crust develops upon the surface of the skin.
This simply flakes out after a few days but in some cases they can take over two weeks. DO NOT not pick at this crusting as it can lead to infection or scarring. Likewise it is important to keep the treated area clean and dry.
If out and about, we advise coverage of a high factor sunscreen to avoid sunburn as the area’s sensitivity to light will be heightened for up to three months. It cannot be expressed enough to stay out of the sun!
Lukewarm boiled water is best for cleaning the treated area. Do not use alcohol-based cleansers or apply a plaster or occlusive dressing as this will interfere and slow down the healing process. We recommend aloe vera gel as soon as you get home, continue to apply morning and night during healing. Starting day 3 keep the treated area moist with a natural oil such as vitamin E, rose hips oil, or a natural healing balm.
No swimming pools, saunas, or hot tubs for at least seven days. The scabs need to fall off naturally for best results.
No strenuous exercising/heavy sweating for seven days.
Providing you listen carefully and follow closely all aftercare advice you should soon be enjoying your new look. However, if it anytime the treated area becomes hot, red, or show signs of infection, please contact your health care provider immediately.
For optimum results, more than one treatment is usually needed and can be completed from around eight weeks onward.
