What is Dermarolling?
Dermarolling is an inexpensive yet effective way to treat common skin problems such as fine and deep wrinkles, loose skin, sun damaged skin, uneven pigmentation or acne spots, scars, stretch marks, and the loss of skin elasticity.
While a dermaroller may look like some kind of a torture device, it’s actually quite helpful and not painful when used properly. There are many of benefits to dermarolling that can be taken advantage of when you follow a rolling-regimen, which is why it is one of the hottest skin-health practices today in Minneapolis and all over the world.
Dermarolling is a skin needling device with many small surgical needles. Dermarolling remolds the skin by creating thousands of microscopic channels through the skin, increasing the formation of new tissue. This process causes the release of growth factors that promote non-scar healing and the deposits of collagen. The roller stimulates blood flow to the surface, gives a skin massage, cleans out the pores and stimulates collagen re-growth.
The recommended treatment protocol is any where from 4 weeks to 6 weeks depending on the condition of your skin. Normally the first session is performed at our clinic and the microneedling is continued at home with instructions on your home care routine.

A. Collagen-Induction-Therapy (CIT), Skin rolling, microneedeling, and skin needling, PCI micro needling (Percutaneous Collagen Induction), Micro needle Therapy and mesorolling.
Q. Does dermarolling hurt?
The needles on the roller are long enough to assist in the penetration of your skin care product, but will not damage the skin in any way. It is normal for the skin to be a little sensitive, most people report a slight prickling sensation
Q. Can the derma or skin roller be used on veins and broken blood vessels or spider veins?
Yes you can use the skin roller on veins close on the surface of face and body. Dermarolling helps to break up larger blood vessels. A derma or skin roller is like a rolling pin to which many, tiny, thin, acupuncture-like needles are attached, can be used to crisscross the dilated blood vessels. Disrupting them like this promotes their disappearance. Healing is usually complete in a few days and treatments may be repeated at monthly intervals as needed.
Q. So rolling creates channels or holes in the skin. Do they stay open and absorb dirt as well?
A. No the tiny channels quickly close over, within the hour.
Q. Can I use the skin roller on my face if I have active acne?
No it will make the acne spread.
Q. How long to see results?
All skin is different so we cant give a definite time frame re results, but as you roll your skin will feel lighter, tighter and brighter almost immediately. If you are treating scars or wrinkles you will see results each week as they skin changes and collagen re-grows, then after 1-3 months deeper results.

Pre and Post-Dermarolling/Microneedling Instructions:
Skin care is critical in helping the body repair and rejuvenate the injured skin. Therefore we recommend a skin care routine pre and post treatment.
One week before your treatment avoid:
- Laser Hair Removal
- Retinol products
- Any product that may be drying or irritating
Post treatment skin care includes daily use of a gentle face cleanser and SNT oil (which is provided) for the next 3-5 days. It is also very important that you use a sunscreen of at least spf 30 daily and avoid direct sunlight for 1 month. Do not use any alpha or beta-hydroxy products on your skin for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
Please be aware that after your treatment your skin will feel tight and may appear as though you have a sunburn. These symptoms resolve within 24-48 hours after treatment. Please do not shower or wash your face sooner than 4-5 hours after treatment to allow enough time for the channels created by the dermaroller to seal.
Dermarolling at home:
Start with freshly cleansed skin. Divide the treatment area on the skin in sub-divisions (forehead, nose, cheeks). Apply SNT oil on the area(s) to be treated. Starting with the forehead use mild pressure to evenly roll the skin in an upward motion no more than 3 strokes for each area being treated in a vertical, horizontal and diagonal direction. The total treatment time is 5-10 minutes, do not roll over the upper and lower eyelid. Complete this after cleansing the skin and prior to applying any other face care products preferably in the evening 2 to 3 times per week. It is advised not to wear makeup on the treated area for 2-3 days after treatment. If you feel sensitive after a treatment it is advised not to use your dermaroller again until the skin feels comfortable. Make sure to soak your dermaroller in rubbing alcohol for 30 minutes after each use and allow to air dry completely before returning it to its case.
